The BPO Industry in the Philippines

In recent years, the Philippines has become home to one of the largest growing industries in the 21st century, the information technology – business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) industry. Most commonly referred to simply as BPO, the industry is cause to the rise of hundreds call centers, software development companies, engineering design, business and medical transcription services.

The BPO industry began as early as 1992 but had taken its biggest bite in 2003 when Convergys began generating thousands of jobs for Filipinos. Despite the BPO industry accounting for a measly 1% of the national labor force, the industry has the most substantial contribution to economic growth, resulting in the rise of the peso value in the early 2010’s.

This has given rise to small- and medium-sized BPO ventures in the Philippines, both by locals and foreigners alike. One such story is that of Xilium whose humble beginnings can be traced back to a small office of five people in 2010. Since then, the Philippines has steadily been gathering traction as more and more of the BPO industry is recognizing the untapped potential of Filipino work ethic and manpower. Modern technology has allowed for a global customer base and wider expansion possibilities. The main capitals are always technology and manpower, both of which help you stand out above the competition. Xilium looks to make the most out of this opportunity and build a thriving business on its integrity, customer satisfaction, and quality services.
